Doug McLaren

Doug holds AA and BS degrees in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. He started his work in the landscape field in grade school, working for his uncle’s landscape company in Southern California during summer breaks. In college, he continued working for wholesale and retail nurseries where his knowledge and love grew for landscape design, plants, and trees. Midway through college he went back to work for a landscape construction firm leading a crew installing custom residential designs to include hardscapes, irrigation systems, lawns, trees, and shrubs. This position developed into an estimating, design, and project management position. After two years, Doug started his own landscape company designing and installing custom residential landscapes. His business grew over a seven-year period when he decided to disband the company and put his business degree to work in the medical device field for nearly 22 years. After moving from California to Tennessee, Doug returned to the landscape field with Outdoor Inc. Doug’s role at Outdoor Inc requires him to wear several hats. Not only is he our Sales Manager, but he is also a landscape designer, estimator, project manager, and sales consultant for our Landscape Construction division. His passion for working with clients to create beautiful and practical spaces on their property is what makes him a great asset to our team at Outdoor Inc. Doug and Carolyn have three adult sons all living in the Chattanooga area. Doug is outdoors every chance he gets in almost any weather. He has enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. Doug also has been fortunate to travel to many beautiful places all over California, Hawaii, and the Southeast with a few cross-country trips under his belt.
